About
NewBridges Coaching

What’s in a name?
Let’s unpack it.

NewBridges Coaching

I have always been fascinated by bridges. It all begins with an important need and a vision centered around a question or two: How can we get from point A to point B, and how do we traverse the gap in between? After brainstorming and exploring possible solutions, a direction is decided upon. Then, engineers go to work to draw up specific, detailed plans. The project begins, and those plans are followed and executed by construction crews with modifications made as new conditions and obstacles come to light. When I look at great bridges and read the backstories of how they came about, I marvel at the cost, risk, and sacrifice in building them.

And, as I watch traffic crossing the bridges, I’m amazed at the vision accomplished and the huge rewards of connecting people and commerce.

This is a wonderful metaphor for coaching, and I am committed to coming alongside individuals, leaders, and teams to build bridges based on who they are, what they want to be, and where they want to go based on their strengths and challenges. Often the starting point is believing what is possible, seeing it with clarity, and taking the first steps. And as Robert Quinn noted, sometimes you have to “build the bridge as you walk on it.”

I’m here to partner with you and support you in that journey of building and walking your bridge (wherever you are) to get to where you want to be. The rewards will make it all worthwhile.

NewBridges Coaching

So, why “new”? As a coach, I partner with clients to gain new clarity, new awareness, new focus, new perspectives, new learnings, new mindsets, new strategies, new goals, new approaches, new pathways, new habits, new actions, and new courage. My coaching is not simply transactional but aims at real transformation, a shift from something old to something new, inside and out.

NewBridges Coaching

So, what is coaching? How do these new bridges get built? In the coaching relationship, you (the person being coached) are the expert on you (your values, motivation, strengths, desires, needs, fears, decision-making, etc.) and you set the agenda for what you want to address and accomplish. You are in the driver’s seat. And, as the coach, I am your trusted passenger and aid in navigation. Coaching takes place in a safe environment with no judgment.

As a coach, I do not tell you or advise you what to do. Rather, I draw out of you the wisdom, insights, and courage that God has placed within you. I listen carefully to your vision and desires for your life and/or work and make observations about what I’m hearing. I ask questions to bring deeper clarity and focus to the underlying dynamics as you process through how you want to approach your challenges or opportunities. I help you tap into what is important to you, align with your values, and heighten your motivation. Every session culminates with evaluating options, overcoming hurdles to progress, and designing actions to move you forward in taking the next step and the next step (“building the bridge as you walk on it”). I provide encouragement along the way, and you can ask for positive accountability in whatever form is helpful to moving forward.

About
Randy Mitrovich

I was born and raised in Michigan, a state with Great Lakes and great bridges—the Ambassador Bridge, the Blue Water Bridge, the Mighty Mackinac Bridge. I have a sense of “awe” about bridges, and I am intrigued by learning about them. They all have a story to tell. In fact, I took a sabbatical in 2005 to visit and photograph bridges in the U.K., Nor CA, Michigan, and even Parke County, Indiana, where I attended the annual Covered Bridge Festival. Curiously enough, I lived in the town of Bridgman, MI for fifteen years.

Over four decades, I served pastorates in the United States and Canada along with leadership roles in my denomination. For a season, I also served 28 churches in Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio as a regional minister.

One of the things I appreciate about bridges is that their beauty is in their uniqueness. As a pastor and leader, for many years I tried to emulate leaders I admired from near or afar. But it never felt authentic and I could not “make things happen” or “pull it off” the way they did. I became frustrated and deflated but felt pressure to appear as though I had it all together. I also felt I had to be the best at everything (which is a lot!) and not show any chinks in my armor.

Then I came across an assessment called StrengthsFinder®. I took a deep look at how God designed me and the talents he had built into me. I came to a new understanding of how to live and lead out of my unique strengths. I felt liberated and genuine as both my impact and fulfillment increased considerably. There was such beauty and power in this process. Today, my passion and deep desire is to come alongside individuals and teams, partnering with them to be the best versions of themselves—to live and lead through understanding, exercising, and leaning heavily into their strengths.

I graduated from Sioux Falls Seminary in South Dakota with the Master of Divinity degree and studied leadership in the Doctor of Ministry program at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, Illinois. As a regional minister, I was trained and certified by CoachNet as a coach and coach mentor. I discovered my great passion and joy in coaching pastors, church staff, and leadership teams. Since then, I have continued my training in coaching and hold the following credentials:

  • Advanced Certified Transformational Coach (Western Seminary, Portland, Oregon)

  • Associate Certified Coach with the International Coaching Federation

  • Gallup Certified Strengths Coach
